He doesn’t have to wear them ALL the time.

My husband, Bob, is forever misplacing his glasses.  I was not at the lake with him when one pair of glasses took a dive into the water, never to be found (by him, anyway, but maybe by a hungry large mouth bass).   Another time his expensive prescription sunglasses went missing from the car, and guess who got blamed for that one…??  Our house isn’t really that big, but enough so that treasure hunting for a pair of spectacles can make you late for work. Fix those glasses, please

Kids are always breaking their spectacles and bringing them to my office for fixing.  Have you ever tried to put one of those microscopic screws back into its place when you’re myoptic yourself???  Then, of course, after trying for awhile, a closer look reveals that the part it fits into is, itself, bent.  I need to get one of those magnifying glasses on a stand so I can see with more than just my own woeful multifocal lenses.

Then, of course, there’s my husband teaching his college students with all those microscopes.  Depending on the power of the scope, you can see deeper and deeper into a world that we otherwise are not privy to, (and many times prefer not to be, if you get my meaning…)  His students are tested in what they see; they have to identify certain creatures, or parts of creatures.  Which means they are learning to see beyond their immediate environment. 

Things are so much more in focus when I can fix the kids glasses—they can see the board and learn.  And Bob’s students use his instruction to interpret what they experience in an otherwise invisible world.
