Here is a thought provoking offering by Wayward Spirit. Not being a poet myself, I asked her what her interpretation is, and so after the poem is her fascinating commentary.
I wish I knew The presence of The muse Deeper than I feel The firmness of What rules
From the poet herself:
“Sometimes it’s a challenge to stay in the heart set were invisible thread stitches reality together. Different sets of rules are flexible and bendy when you exit the reality that supports them. I miss the place were the muse lives the place of inspiration when life turns really practical. Sometimes it’s hard to switch worlds. The door back to inspiration is right there only invisible. Sometimes I bump into the wall. Ouch”
My two cents: As a Christian, I tend to get entangled in the web of “shoulds”, that infernal TO-DO list, or as someone put it, the tyranny of the urgent. Rather, I want to hear the gentle (okay, perhaps sometimes not so gentle by necessity) voice of the Holy Spirit within me, guiding me moment by moment through life’s jumble.
Tends toward TMI, so here's the short list: guitar and banjo (both of which have been much neglected as of late), bicycling (ibid), dogs, very black tea, and contemplating and commenting on deep philosophical thoughts about which I have had no academic or professional training. Oh, also reading, writing, but I shy away from arithmetic.
